Client Brief To design a contemporary building comprising eighteen apartments, to compliment it’s more dominant and historic next door neighbour.

Parlante Solution This building is used as a transition between its large and bulky historic neighbour, the Childrens Dental Clinic, to the domestically scaled buildings on its other boundaries. Proportions reflect the historic neighbour, but do not imitate. Materials and detailing also reference the larger building, contrasting and integrating different elements. The overall effect is a contemporary design that defers to its historic neighbour.
