Client Brief To design eighty three apartments in an established urban fringe location. Natural light and views were to be maximized. Generous communal space and amenities are to be provided.

Parlante Solution The site is large and surrounded by a variety of old Victorian, and early 20th Century buildings. We wanted to break down the bulk of the architecture to reflect the size of surrounding buildings. This led to a design that consisted of a podium containing the car park and commercial space with six separate apartment blocks above. Each block is more in scale with the buildings in the neighbourhood. The use of stone on the main façade at street level reflects Kingsland’s rich past while simple contemporary details and materials characterize the apartments above.

The design is clean lined and contemporary. Apartments look to the street or large plaza spaces containing communal amenities such as the swimming pool or gym. Each apartment has a generous balcony facing the sun or views, and full height glazing ensures maximum natural light
