Client Brief To design a mixed use development that maximized its two street frontages. Apartments, car parking, and a retail space were to be provided in an integrated approach.

Parlante Solution The overall form of the building has been developed in response to its functions as an apartment building with ground level retail and car parking. Stone is used at ground level as a solid building base, while lightweight metal panelling is used above. Each apartment is clearly articulated on the façade, using the balcony divisions, either as a single or double storey void to indicate the individual apartments behind. The façade is broken up to create visual texture and shadow lines setting up a rhythm that helps break up the building mass. Each apartment has outdoor living and large areas of glazing. A central atrium ensures all habitable rooms have light and outlook.
