Client Brief Resource Consent has been granted for eighty eight medium density housing units. We are inviting submission from a limited number of architectural practices to carry out the developed design, documentation and observation work.

Parlante Solution Of the five unit types three of those chosen were from our office. Ultimately we carried out the work required in all five designs over eighty eight units. We wanted to imbue each design with its own identity. The bulk and location plans previously submitted to the Waitakere Council were plain boxes. We wanted to break up the facades and provide layers to form shadow lines, adding interest and depth to the frontages. Different materials were used to add texture to the houses.
Each house type has been designed with reference to the whole subdivision, while retaining individual identity. The forms, massing, composition and proportions of the facades echo traditional housing, but planning, materials and detailing are contemporary.
